TillSonDayComes

Hello – My name is Robert Heil. I’m Barbara’s husband. We’ve been married 55 years, been preaching for over 48 years and are now “pre-tired”. We’ll tell our story on this site, but that’s not the main focus.

This site is about Aging as Christians.

What does the Bible say about growing old, about faithfulness as we age, about the blessings of age?

We will also talk about issues facing the church today, we’ll offer words of encouragement for difficult times, support for the hard work of caregiving, as well as health as we age; how taking care of self – it’s not selfishness. There will also be short Bible studies. Especially the Bible studies. We’ve been reading the Bible for years, listening to sermon after sermon; I’ll try not to repeat all the things you already know – just those that are essential to finishing the course.

We live in serious times, and we need mature Christians to lead us.

The subjects and video lessons in this site are addressed to Christians, to those who believe the Bible to be inspired by GOD and that the words found on the pages of the Bible are the very expression that GOD intended.  This site addresses those who believe in Jesus as the Son of GOD, who though He was creator of this world, was rejected and crucified as a part of GOD’s plan known to Him before the world even began. A crucifixion and death that was a “sacrifice” as atonement for sin, and a resurrection from that death as proof GOD accepted it in place of the death that was due me.

I do not intend to speak to non-believers.  My intent from the beginning is to address Christians.  For that reason, those who are not Christians may find the straight talk in these pages to be harsh, offensive, even judgmental, but that is not my intention nor my mindset. We live in the midst of a world gone mad! Our only hope is in what GOD has said. Listen with me.

I hope you find this site helpful, I intend it as a blessing.

I Cor. 12:14 – Senior members have a vital role in the life of the church – the problem is we’re not sure what it is?

The mistake many older people make is to live the 2nd half of life by the same rules as those in the 1st half are following.

We assume that by giving thanks over the food GOD will bless it to nourish our bodies. But then we go on eating our “junk” foods. Good health is a partnership work with GOD.

“There are only four kinds of people in the world––those who have been caregivers, those who are currently caregivers, those who will be caregivers, and those who will need caregivers.” Roslyn Carter, Former First Lady of the United States.

But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil. Heb.5:4

So as one who seeks to become mature, let’s do it. Let’s train our powers of discernment by digging into what Scripture says.
